Anatolia. 1919 (April 5) Postcard from Adalia to Turin franked by Rhodes overprinted "Leoni" 10c, tied by "Posta Militare Italiana/Adalia" double circle, showing at left "31° Battaglione Bersaglieri" unit cachet; the stamps and the handstamps were applied in Adalia and the correspondence was forwarded via courier to Rhodes for onward transmission to Italy. The earliest usage recorded of this cancellation, which was used during almost two months only. (Image)

1919 Cover to Trebaseleghe (Italy), bearing two examples of Rhodes overprinted "Leoni" 10c, both tied by "Posta Militare Italiana/Adalia" double circle (this type features slight differences compared to the type presented in the previous lot), with "31° Battaglione Bersaglieri" unit cachet at left, both being superb neat strikes in blue, with receiving cds on back; the stamps and the handstamps were applied in Adalia and the correspondence was forwarded via courier to Rhodes for onward transmission to Italy. 1919 (May 5) Postcard from Konia to Gualtieri (Italy) sent by an Italian soldier, transmitted to Constantinople were it was censored with Italian cachet, posted at the Turkish .O. of Galata where the 1pi franking was tied by cds, probably a unique mail from the troops in Konia posted in a Turkish P.O. in Constantinople previously passing the Italian censorship. 1919 (Sept)-1920 (March) Three items from Adalia and Rhodes, two sent by Col. Bergera, Commander of the Italian Boundary Delegation between Greece and Turkey along the Aiasoluk-Aydin railway line, one posted at the Turkish P.O. of Adalia with Rhodes censorship in transit, the other with Rhodes 5c and sent to General Elia (Commander of the C.S.I.M.O.) with interesting contents informing about the withdraw of his troops from Konia (11-13.3.20).

1922 (Jan 17) Insured cover (600 lire) to Milan, franked by "Leoni" 10c and eleven examples of "Michetti" 25c, tied by "Poste Italiane/Scalanova (Anatolia)" cds's and the required "A" label with two-line handstamp at top right, "Poste/Scalanova (Anatolia)" red wax seals with Savoyard coat of arms on reverse, together with Brindisi transit cds. The 2,85 lire franking paid 40c for the single weight, the 50c registration fee and the insurance fee of 75c for the first 200 lire, plus 1,20 lire for the remaining 400 lire (30c for each additional 100 lire over 200). The only insured mail known from the Scalanova P.O., demonstrating that this postal service was also in force; probably the most significant and spectacular rarity from Anatolia. Signed Fiecchi.
