Corfu 1923. 1923 (Sept) Postcard to Brindisi with heading "Zona sprovvista di francobolli" in manuscript (zone without stamps available), sanctioned by "Militari Italiani a Corfù/Francatura a carico destinatario" two-line hs and nevertheless not taxed, with cachet "R° Sommergibile" at top right. A rare usage with additional interest for originating from a submarine. (Image)

1923 (Sept 8) Postcard to Naples dispatched on board the R.N. "San Marco", and despite the foreign frankings not being tolerated on board of Italian ships, the Greek stamps were accepted, in this case bearing 10L (2), 20L and 40L (2), tied by very fine strike of "R. Nave San Marco" straight-line postmark, with part of the franking also tied by machine cancel on arrival three days alter. Rare and most appealing. (Image)

1923 An interesting group of 11 items mounted on exhibition pages, including usages on the first and last days of opening of the P.O. (the later bearing overprinted stamps), the three different types for the "Corfù/Poste Italiane"cds struck on piece of paper one day after the office was closed and with manuscript notation indicating their order from 1 to 3, frankings with Italy "Leoni", two overprinted and non-overprinted 30c stationery cards used, Greek franking cancelled by the R. N. "San Marco" and the rare "Militari italiani a Corfù/Francatura a carico destinatario" postmark, as well as a mysterious postcard from Corfu franked with overprinted 15c but tied in Brindisi.
