Reports of the Controller of the London Postal Service and the Electrician", 13 pages, unusually with 2nd July large c.d.s and 1d Tube Post handstamps on the front, minor damp staining to the edge of the cover and first couple of pages, otherwise fine. 1912 Ideal Stamp. The exceptional display collection on the design, production and printing of the "Ideal Stamp" by the J.P.S at the 1912 exhibition, with newspaper articles announcing the competition or showing the winning designs; rare essays and proofs for the issued design with blocks in red or black showing a lined background, red block of six with additional lines across the harp, similar but larger photographic essay in yellow, reduced size photographic proofs in the issued design in black and an imperf black proof with the issued stamp on piece signed by the engraver R.A Harrison; and many perf or imperf labels including complete sheets of 240 (5 sheets), imperf and perforated blocks of 80 and 108 in black, other multiples including control blocks, all colours including rare magenta and green (5), varieties with 1d black block of twelve perforated on the outer edges only, imperf between pairs, misplaced perfs, printed on both sides, dry prints, offsets, printed on gummed side, etc. Also leaflet requesting feedback on the design, stamp used on 1927 Brighton Philatelic Society dinner menu, 1913 Printex Co Ltd leaflet depicting the Ideal Stamp and Paris exhibition label, with examples of the Paris labels (6) and the Ideal Stamps printed for Paris (16, larger size than the original 1912 labels), later reproductions, etc. A fine and scarce lot, with some research notes, ex Kiddle collection.
