1894-1937 Covers and cards (27), a part cover and fronts (2) including 1894 India 1/4a postcard franked 1a to Transvaal, part registered cover with India 4a pair and cover to India bearing India 1/2a (2, one partly torn away upon opening) with unusual boxed "BOUNTY MONEY / UNPAID" backstamp; Zanzibar overprints with 2a6p on 1896 cover to Lindi, German East Africa, 1a + 12a on 1896 2a registration envelope, and 1a postcard; French P.O transit c.d.s on 1902 postcard from Madagascar to Transvaal; 1906 card with Zanzibar 1a tied by German Seepost c.d.s and smudged "Africa / Oe Lloyd" transit c.d.s; 1907 postcards with Zanzibar stamps cancelled at Mombasa (2); unpaid cards with "T" handstamps (2); 1909 oval "AR" handstamp; 1930 stampless "Postal Service" cover registered to G.B; registration envelopes, picture postcards, etc. (30).

World War One - Royal Naval Air Service. 1916 (July 21) 12c Size F registration envelope bearing two 6c stamps, addressed to "Officer Commanding Royal Naval Air Service, Mbuyuni, B.E.A", both sides with circular violet "PASSED / NAVAL A.S Censor / ZANZIBAR", backstamped at Mombassa, Voi and Indian F.P.O 321. Small edge fault on the front above the stamps, otherwise fine and very scarce, very few examples recorded of this Zanzibar R.N.A.S censor. The R.N.A.S Squadron in East Africa was formed in May 1916 and amalgamated with the Zanzibar Squadron in January 1917. Photo on Page 106. (Image1)
