World War One - Royal Naval Air Service. 1916 (July 21) 12c Size F registration envelope bearing two 6c stamps, addressed to "Officer Commanding Royal Naval Air Service, Mbuyuni, B.E.A", both sides with circular violet "PASSED / NAVAL A.S Censor / ZANZIBAR", backstamped at Mombassa, Voi and Indian F.P.O 321. Small edge fault on the front above the stamps, otherwise fine and very scarce, very few examples recorded of this Zanzibar R.N.A.S censor. The R.N.A.S Squadron in East Africa was formed in May 1916 and amalgamated with the Zanzibar Squadron in January 1917. Photo on Page 106. (Image1)
