'Advertised and Unclaimed' Handstamps 1860 cover from England to Ballarat "Via Marseilles" franked with 1854 QV 4d carmine rose pair & 1d red-brown tied by BN '315' of Thornbury (near Bristol) with two strikes of 'ADVERTISED/AND/UNCLAIMED' oval handstamp, accompanied by OHMS Returned Paid Letter envelope used to return the cover to the sender, with 'OFFICIAL-PAID/JA22/61/LONDON' arrival cds in red on face. 'Not in Melbourne' Handstamps 51x11½mm boxed 'NOT IN MELBOURN[E]/LETTER DELIVER[Y]' on 1d Postal Card from Melbourne to Church of England Grammar School (Melbourne Grammar), St Kilda Rd. The card was then redirected to South Yarra. The only example recorded. Presumably this was applied when mail was sent to the letter carriers and then it was determined to be out of their delivery area. The card is from the Melbourne Cricket Club Football Club advising the addressee that he has been selected to play. (Image1)
