Indiana. Indiana. United States - postal history New York -- Hobbieville 1836 manuscript stampless folded letter to New York City Letter is from Postmaster Augustus A. Cammann, who was appointed in 1835 and bears his signature in the free frank and also at the bottom of his letter. Hard to find manuscript stampless folded letter. Brief letter mentions that Cammann's brother is busy trying to get a shepherd dog from Scotland. Also mentions cotton business, and quoting prices for land. Writer was appointed postmaster of Hobbieville in 1835, thus postage was FREE. Slight wrinkles at left and also two tears into green paper stock at lower left. (Image1)
