1899-1900 De La Rue Pictorials ½d to 6d imperforate colour trials in the issued colours on unwatermarked paper. A unique and important set.

68 separate colour trials were produced: each is unique, which causes us to believe that they are all die proofs, not plate proofs, reduced to stamp-size to enable the Agent-General to easily compare the trials for each denomination. All are illustrated in "The De La Rue Collection" edited by Frank Walton RDP. (8)

[The First Wmk 6d Roo monogram strips of 3 are catalogued at $10,000 each, and that stamp was used throughout Australia. It seems incomprehensible that these strips, issued only in the smallest State, should be worth a mere 4% of their Kangaroo cousins]
