Cat No:2
1855 London Printings 2d rose-carmine SG 2 horizontal pair, margins close to good, the first unit with ironed-out vertical crease, Cat £170+.
1856-58 Adelaide Printings 2d orange-red SG 7 horizontal strip of 3, full margins except at the base of the last unit where just touched, Numeral '25' of Gawler, Cat £240+.
1856-58 Adelaide Printings 1/- orange SG 12, a huge example just touched at L/R but otherwise with very large margins & fragments of the adjoining units at top & right, GPO cds in blue, Cat £500.
1868-79 Perf 11½-12½ '3-PENCE' in Black on 4d deep ultramarine SG 68, exceptional centring, virtually full o.g., Cat £160. An unusually fine example.
1868-76 De La Rue 2d imperforate plate proof blocks of 4 in rose-lake (scissor cut between the upper units), dull violet (creased across the upper units), pale blue & indigo all on ungummed watermarked paper, plus in the the issued colour on gummed watermarked paper. Attractive.
(Qty 5 blocks)
1868-76 De La Rue Perf 10 2d brick-red SG 159 with 30% Void at L/L caused by a fragment of paper on the plate, light squared-circle partly across the void area. A wonderful little item!
1876-1904 De La Rue Crown SA (Narrow) Watermark 2d orange-red Perf 10 as SG 168 but Mixed Perforations with additional row of Perf 11½ at top, light squared circle cancel, a few uneven perfs. Unlisted in Gibbons and absent from the Gary Diffen sale of 29.4.2020. The stamp was originally Perf 10 all around with the top perforations cutting through the design at the Queen's crown creating a 'dwarf' stamp; the additional row of Perf 11½ was applied to 'rescue' the stamp's original size, but was misplaced upwards to include a part of the stamp above; it is quite remarkable that the stamp was separated in such a way as to retain both lines of perforations, and likely that others from the same row were not so lucky as to survive intact.
1883-99 De La Rue Crown SA (Close) Watermark ½d Bantam brown Perf 13 SG 191 pair with Double Perforations vertically between the units, light 'SOUTHERN RAILWAY/AU25/97/SA' squared circle cancel, plus a single with Double Perforations vertically through the design, light 1897 squared circle cancel.
