"3-pence" on 4d. deep ultramarine printed double, excellent colour, neatly cancelled by large part Adelaide c.d.s., the odd shortish perf, fine. The finest of the three examples recorded. B.P.A. Certificate (2009). S.G. 68. Photo Note: This error should not be confused with the double impression varieties which are prevalent in the stamps of South Australia. Occassionally, some stamps were printed double, as in the case of this example, where the complete doubling of the design can be seen at the left. This stamp is almost identical in characteristics to the Ferrari example.. . provenance:. Peter Jaffé, March 2006(Image1)

South Australia. 1883-99 watermark Crown over SA (Close), perf 15 ½d. deep brown horizontal strip of four with margin at top, the centre pair imperforate between, fine mint. Photo Note: There is no evidence of this error being reported in contemporary literature and it was listed by Stanley Gibbons in 1917. Three strips of four are recorded, with another in the Royal Collection. The whereabouts of two pairs in a mint block of eight in the Rosenblum (1928) and Sharples (1936) collections is unknown and hasn't been sighted since that time, most probably broken down into two strips of four and recorded above.(Image1)
