1916 South Africa 1/2d, 1d(2) tied by Grahamstown (AP 1 16) to British interred officer at Holzminden POW camp, Germany. Blue Censored Cape Town oval, Passed by Censor C3, Post Free PC Prisoner of War, “Opened by Censor / Georend door Censor” red tape, blue boxed “Gepruft Kommandant Holzminden Prufungstalls”, etc. This camp was for British and Empire officers (Officer Gefangenenlager). Curiously it is addressed to Miss Lonie Shaw, Barache 21 (a female). (Image)
