1875-1901 Issues on annotated exhibit pages mostly used with a wide range of perfs and shades plus many varieties including Double Overprints, Inverted Overprints including 2½d indigo SG O83a mint, Misplaced Overprints, Missing Stops including a remarkable 2d pair 'O.S. - O S ' SG O44/e, etc, generally very fine. An excellent basis for expansion. [NB: many of the varieties are much scarcer than the Gibbons prices would suggest]

OVERPRINTED 'O.S.' TYPE 'O1': 1874-76 Perf 12½x11½ 2d orange SG O42, a couple of short perfs, GPO cds of MY20/74 (the First Day of Issue noted by Gibbons), grossly undercatalogued at £160. Ex Lieut FH Napier. Philatelic Society of London Certificate (1902) signed "ED Bacon/for Expert/Committee". [Stated by our vendor to be "probably the only known example"]
OVERPRINTED 'O.S.' TYPE 'O3' (WIDE SPACING): 1891 Wide 'O. S.' on 'POSTAGE & REVENUE' 2/6d pale violet SG O86, exceptional centring, lightly mounted large-part o.g., Cat £8500. One of the finest examples of this rare stamp, with none of the gum-bends that are usually found. [The last very fine example we offered sold at the Prestige auction of 24.5.2008 for $10,925]

1900 envelope with Coat of Arms embossed in red on the flap & very fine 'AIDE DE CAMP'S/OFFICE/ GOVERNMENT HOUSE' cachet at L/L, to Sydney (b/s) with scarce franking of 'O.S.' (Narrow Spacing) ½d brown & 1d green pair - Cat £29 x50+ - tied by GPO duplex.
1911 usage of 3d Registration Envelope to Germany with 2½d tied by Adelaide cds, red/white registration label, 'FRANKFURT' arrival b/s, very minor blemishes.
POSTAL CARDS - REPLY: 1911 1d red 'WITH REPLY CARD' + 1d red 'REPLY CARD' attached (Melbourne Printing with Large Seriffed Headings), rare albeit philatelic usage to Germany with ½d GPO tied Adelaide '1911/MR31' machine cancel, a few blemishes. [Nelson Eustis' unused example with the halves separated - described as "Fewer than 5 examples ... known; all are unused" - sold in 2003 for $1265]

Group of Classics with Receiving Office cancels x13 on values to 2/- including '3-PENCE' in Black on 4d & 9d with Pre-Printing Paper Fold; then Diamond Numerals x12 including '12' (rated RR), '35' (RR), superb '42' (RRR), superb '90' (RR), very fine '200' (RRRR), clear '241' (RRRR; the 'Tamiami' example sold for $455) & very fine '295' (RR), etc. A very handy lot.

Jamestown: 'PAID/ 1D /AU--/--/JAMESTOWN' (no day or year slugs) on F Humphris & Sons cover to Port Germein. A new discovery: previously known only from archival strikes.
TRAVELLING POST OFFICES: '376 MILE E.W.RLY/3SP18/S.A' largely very fine strike on Third Wmk 1/- (surface abrasion). Rare. PO 19.9.1916; closed -.5.1918. [Either the closing date is incorrect or the office re-opened. We have also recorded usage on 16SP18]

Attractive group of plate proofs including 1854 Unissued 1/- in black, De La Rue issues including Imperf ½d block of 48 in green & 2d blocks of 12 in brown-orange & 21 in orange, Perf 1d block of 36 in green, 'POSTAGE & REVENUE' Undenominated in lilac, Tannenberg 5d imperf blocks of 4 in five different colours, Imperf Post Office ½d pair in black, 1d pair in black/pink & 2d pair in violet/yellow, etc, most on gummed unwatermarked paper & generally very fine to superb with most units being unmounted.

1855 London Printings 2d rose-carmine SG 2 horizontal pair, margins good to large with chunks of both adjoining units below, unused, Cat £1600+. Ex 'Besancon' (II). Superb!
1856-58 Adelaide Printings 1d deep yellow-green SG 5, margins close to good with a fragment of the adjoining unit at right, lightly cancelled, Cat £550. [Our opinion is that this is a grossly underrated stamp. As with the 1/- orange SG 12, most examples have been fabricated by removing roulettes]
