BOER WAR 1902 document on 'The Press Association' notepaper, written by Lord Kitchener (Commander in Chief of the British Forces). The document is headed 'Peace Concluded' and states 'Negotiations with the Boer delegates. The document containing terms of surrender was signed here this evening at 10.30 pm by all Boer representatives as well as by Lord Milner and myself.' It has been written on extremely thin paper that would suggest it was sent to the Press association by pigeon, not an uncommon way of expediting messages at that time by news agencies. A very important historical document. (Image)
