1932 (26 Jan) Recovered Interrupted First Flight cover from Windhoek: S.W.A. postal stationery registered envelope 4d. blue uprated 1931 Air 10d. pair and 3d. pair, 1926 4d. triangle and 1931 ½d. and 1d. all tied by special "FIRST AIR MAIL*EERSTE LUGPOS/WINDHOEK-KIMBERLEY/26.1.32" cds, addressed to Capt. A.O. Wright, A.F.C., Chief Pilot S.W.A. Airways c/o Calcutta, India, carried by a Junkers monoplane to Kimberley in connection with the First Imperial Airways Cape Town to Croydon service, flown by the "City of Basra"which was damaged at take off at Salisbury and mail was transferred to the "City of Delhi", which the had to make an emergency landing due to bad weather near Broken Hill. The mail was then transferred to the "City of Baghdad", and arrived Nairobi four days later than scheduled. A good p/s registered envelope, backstamped Cairo '12 Feb 32', a good franking and an interesting carriage. (Image)
