PRESTAMP "RETURNED LETTER" WRAPPERS INC. 3 SCARCE 2d-POST TYPES WITH "REGULATIONS" TEXT INSIDE; 1815-30 printed "Returned Letter" wrappers (without original contents; usual wear) inc. 1818/25/29 trio for local London letters and so having the lengthy and fascinating printed "Two-penny Poft-Office...Regulations" text inside (one of "E. JOHNSON, Comptroller" the others of "T.E. MUSGRAVE") - ref. cutting banknotes in half to send by post, warning against "Illegal conveyance of Letters", etc. The other 4 (1815-30) for General Post letters and so with short "FRANCIS FREELING" printed letters (one with postal rate charged from single to double and m/s change to make "2 Returned Letters" on the front). DEAD LETTER OFFICE RETURNED LETTER WRAPPERS (1 WITH CONTENTS) + OFFICIAL FREE LETTER; 1833/9 covers all with "Dead Letter Office" imprints on the front (3 of London + 1 of Edinburgh); 1833 "O.H.M.S." type sent free within London but oddly having the regular General Post crowned "FREE" d.s. (printed contents ref. a letter found inside another letter of which the addressee was "Not found" in Manchester), fine 1833 'matched pair' EL endorsed "Refused" in red beside scarce boxed "Pudsey/Penny Post" which the sender had also endorsed on the front "NB It concerns you much; you must not send it back as you did the last"!!, scarce 1836 Edinburgh DLO wrapper, and scarce 1839 London "Returned paid Letter" wrapper sent within London (marked as 10d prepaid). RARE 'MATCHED PAIR' "DEAD-LETTER-OFFICE" WRAPPER WITH COVER TO PARIS WITH BOXED "RETURNED FROM"; 31 Dec. 1842 EL prepaid "10[+]10[=] 1/8" from Edinburgh to a Paris "Poste Restante" with London v. fine oval red "P-D" and London/Calais transit cds on the front, but with black h.s. "Non Reclamee" (of Paris) on the flap and so also with v. fine red boxed London Foreign Branch "RETURNED FROM" on the front and accompanied by its original "Returned paid Letter/Dead-Letter Office" wrapper (some toning) with brief printed Maberly text inside.
