1856 stampless entire ex Auckland to New Plymouth, canc "PAID AT AUCKLAND NEW ZEALAND" crowned h/s (SG CCI cat £400 on cover) & large ornate "2" h/s (= 2d paid), both in red. Also on front, fine complete strike NO 6 1856 of 25mm unframed cds "NEW PLYMOUTH/NEW ZEALAND". This date is over 5 years later than the latest date recorded for this cds by K J McNaught in Vol 7 PSNZ (1988). B/s fine strike of similar Auckland cds 4 NO 1856. Extensive age stains (chemical) from the ink of the message inside. Vertical central fold.
