1915 usage of black/red 'INTERSTATE/PARCEL POST' label with rare franking of Kangaroos 2d 6d & 1/- pair (one badly damaged) all with 'BS/&F' perfins (with curved top to 'F') of Beath Schiess & Felstead (Warehousemen) all tied by the huge rubber oval 'PARCELS OFFICE/OCT 6 1915/MELBOURNE' datestamp, some creasing. An outstanding item for the collector of parcel mail or perfins. [The rate was 2/8d for a parcel weighing between 4 & 5 pounds, to any interstate address. We cannot identify the watermarks. [The SS 'Valencia' left Sydney on 10.10.1919 for Europe with 400+ deported internees from Holdsworthy Camp NSW; the Sydney Morning Herald reported (copy included) "... probably a call will be made at Albany where further deportees will be taken aboard ..."; Haynes (p352) questions whether the POW 'free postage' concession applied to deportees; this item was accepted unfranked and is one of the last items posted under the WWI concession in Australia].
