1915 usage of black/red 'INTERSTATE/PARCEL POST' label with rare franking of Kangaroos 2d 6d & 1/- pair (one badly damaged) all with 'BS/&F' perfins (with curved top to 'F') of Beath Schiess & Felstead (Warehousemen) all tied by the huge rubber oval 'PARCELS OFFICE/OCT 6 1915/MELBOURNE' datestamp, some creasing. An outstanding item for the collector of parcel mail or perfins. [The rate was 2/8d for a parcel weighing between 4 & 5 pounds, to any interstate address. We cannot identify the watermarks. However, the usage is from very late in the Second Wmk period, and before any of the Third Wmk values were issued. The First Wmk & Second Wmk 1/- catalogue $1250 & $2000 respectively on cover]

1919 YMCA cover endorsed "Prisoner of War Letter" sent unfranked to Melbourne by ex-internee "F Arnold SS Valencia" (return address) with 'ALBANY/20OC19/WESTERN AUSTRALIA' cds. [The SS 'Valencia' left Sydney on 10.10.1919 for Europe with 400+ deported internees from Holdsworthy Camp NSW; the Sydney Morning Herald reported (copy included) "... probably a call will be made at Albany where further deportees will be taken aboard ..."; Haynes (p352) questions whether the POW 'free postage' concession applied to deportees; this item was accepted unfranked and is one of the last items posted under the WWI concession in Australia].
