1656 - Act for the Selling of the Postage of England, Scotland and Ireland passed by Parliament in 1656 and printed in London the following year. Being the first one that establishes a Post Office in British Isles and confirms the right of the Postmaster General to carry letters; also establishing rates and the supply of horses on the post roads. 1670 - Cape of Good Hope letter sheet directed to Pieter Hackius, Governor of the Colony in fort do good hope. Rare and early internal mail. (Image)

1782 - London to Madeira entire letter circulated on board the ship “Duke of Chandois” that failed to call at Madeira and carried it to Jamaica where the 'Iamaica' mark was applied. Then returned via London to Madeira on a private ship. Very rare and interesting trip. (Image)

1784 - Kingston (Jamaica) to Madeira entire letter sent via London endorsed 'per the Catherine'. 'Ramsgate / Ship-lre' mark on front and 'Jamaica mark' on revers. (Image)
