BUIN, BOUGAINVILLE COVER COLLECTION: Box file housing 1941-91 range of covers (great majority are 1950s), mostly addressed to/from Rev. A H. Voyce. Scarcer cancels and provisional frankings present. Includes 3 Regd. covers dated 28 May 1949, the first day of PO opening at Buin. Other early Air Mails with Australian frankings ex Buin carried via "Bird of Paradise" service and a range of covers with the oval M.V. "Mandalay" cachet in red or violet, also Jul. 1951 FDC ex Genoa, USA to Torokina carried on the first (and only) flight of "Amphibious Airways" from Rabaul to Buin; Scarcer covers inc. 14 Jun. 1952 local cover with boxed "BUIN" violet h/s and oval A.V. "CICELY II" cachet in green, a couple of 1953 combination covers with Australian/PNG frankings, rare 29 Jan 1957 FDC with 4d & 7d provisionals. Also examples of "No stamps available" ("NSA") endorsements and 25 Jan. 1958 local cover with 1d Stamp Duty issue allowed to make up rate of 4d, very rare thus.
