POSTAL HISTORY: 1965 commercial piece from a parcel with remarkable & irregular franking of Postal Charges 9d & 3/- two strips of 3 plus 10/- Bird used in lieu of Postage Due all tied by Samarai cds of 11AU65. 3/- was the highest denomination in the Postal Charges set: it appears that in making up the amount due of £1/4/9d, the 3/- stock was heavily depleted requiring the Postage 10/- to be used for that purpose.
