1929 'AIR MAIL' Overprint Ash Printing 3d black & blue-green block of 24 (3x8) comprising three complete columns with the Ash Imprint and with the six units on the third & fourth rows all with Overprint Inverted resulting in no fewer than six Tête-Bêche Pairs, a very minor blemish on unit [32] & folded along the perforations between the fourth & fifth rows, otherwise superb unmounted, Cat £27,000++. BPA Certificate (1989) for the complete sheet of 40. Ex Tim Rybak - sold at the Prestige Philately auction of 26.4.2008 for $94,875 which is still the world record price for any item of Papuan philately - and 'Tatiana'.

Only the one sheet was discovered, meaning that six of the ten possible tête-bêche pairs are offered here. One of the "Crown Jewels", of Papuan philately. Illustrated by Ray Kelly in 'Papua: Airmail Overprint Varieties' at page 24.
