1907-10 Small 'PAPUA'Compound Perfs 2d black & purple SG 73 horizontal pair Perf 12½ between & at right resulting in the left-hand unit being Perf 11x12½x11x11 & the right-hand unit being Perf 11x12½, minor tropicalisation of the gum & a couple of tiny tonespots, lightly mounted, Cat £3400++. 1932 Pictorialsoriginal India ink & watercolour design for the ornamental frame by FE Williams on art paper (184x247mm), affixed in the central void are a rough sketch of a portion of the border & a typed advice: "The shading should be deepened a good deal...", a few insignificant blemishes. Unique and one of the most important pieces for this issue. Ex EC Harris Archive: sold at the Prestige auction of 12.10.2012 for $1552. [With a typed note: "...the Committee thought that it would be advisable to embody some of the Broadside or horizontal designs & are of the opinion that Mr Williams's border can be so adapted..." In fact, it was used only for the 11 vertical designs]
