POSTAGE DUES: c.1935 2d & 3d imperf 'makeready' plate proofs in issued colours on coarse brown paper with 'SPECIMEN' printed multiple times on the reverse, the 2d horizontally inverted & the 3d vertically reading upwards. [These are usually erroneously referred to as 'Crump Forgeries', after the person who fraudulently obtained them from the printers. This is highly misleading because they were produced as part of the production process]
