1850-51 Sydney Views balance of collection with ONE PENNY with Clouds x7 including a pair, TWO PENCE Plate I with Vertical Background x3, Plate II with Horizontal Background x8 (one with No Whip), Plate III x2, Plate IV x9 including one on Laid Paper with No Whip, and Plate V x4 including a pair; and THREE PENCE x4; condition rather mixed but most are presentable to attractive, high catalogue value; also an apparently unused group comprising 1d x3 & 2d x3 all with RPSofV Certificates stating they have been cleaned, & with various faults. Ex 'CREVIT'.
1850-51 Sydney Views 1d carmine Plate I (No Clouds) on Soft Yellowish Paper SG 2, margins close to good, light bars cancel of Sydney largely clear of the central design, Georg Buhler guarantee handstamp, Cat £550.
1850-51 Sydney Views 1d rose-red Plate I (No Clouds) on Soft Yellowish Paper SG 3, clear even margins, light very fine Barred Numeral '35' (rated SS) of Goulburn, a couple of minor aging marks, Cat £550.
1850-51 Sydney Views 1d dull carmine Plate II (Clouds) on White to Yellowish Paper with Unshaded Hill SG 8b, margins good to large, light bars cancel of Sydney largely clear of the variety, Cat £950.
1850-51 Sydney Views 1d crimson-lake Plate II (Clouds) on Hard Greyish or Bluish Paper SG 9 with Significant & Obvious Doubling of the Design, margins close to large, light indistinct cancel largely clear of the central vignette, Cat £400+. Superb! RPSofL Certificate (2021) states "Smudged print" and "Memo: not a double print". We agree that it is not a double print, in the sense that the paper has not been set to the stone twice. However, the printing is not 'smudged', which would imply a lateral movement as if a thumb had redistributed the ink. Rather, the doubling is quite regular, in the nature of a kiss print.

(9)
1850-51 Sydney Views 2d Plate II (Horizontally Lined Background) Early & Intermediate Impressions, and Plate IV (Dot in the Centre of Each Corner Star) x3 (one a lovely bright ultramarine), all with full margins but close in places, Cat £1100+. (5)
1850-51 Sydney Views 2d indigo Plate II (Horizontally Lined Background & Dated Bale) SG 21, good even margins with outer framelines at the sides, light cancel leaving most of the design visible, Cat £375.
1850-51 Sydney Views 2d grey-blue Plate II (Horizontally Lined Background) Intermediate Impression SG 23, wide even margins with almost-complete outer framelines, light Sydney bars cancel, Cat £325. Although classified as an Early Impression by Gibbons - who do not list an intermediate state - there is clear wear, evident especially on the 'VIT' of 'CREVIT', which is partially missing.
1850-51 Sydney Views 2d Prussian blue Plate II (Horizontally Lined Background) Worn Impression with Inner Circle Intersecting Fan SG 26c, good to wide margins with outer framelines at left & base, light clear Barred Numeral '14' ('4' reversed; rated RRR) of Orange, Cat £450. Georg Buhler h/s and endorsed 'III' on reverse, but it is clearly from Plate II.

1851-55 Laureates 1d deep carmine Thick Yellowish Paper SG 44 vertical pair, the upper unit with No Leaves Right of 'SOUTH' SG 44a, margins just clear - at upper-left - to good, bold but very fine bars cancels of Sydney just intrude on the variety, Cat £875+. Superb! [The impressions were laid-down on the plate with very narrow spaces between them. Singles with full margins are extremely elusive, and a full-margined multiple is a rarity]
1851-55 Laureates 3d yellow-green Bluish to Grey Wove Paper SG 67, good colour, margins just touched - at lower-left - to good, tiny imperfections, unused, Cat £5000. A rare stamp. Stated to have been removed from the famous block of 38 ex Sir Daniel Cooper, Judge Frederick Philbrick, Baron Philippe de la Renotiere Ferrary, Alfred Caspary, John Boker & 'Dubois'.

1854-59 Large Diadems imperforate 6d 'rainbow' trial plate proof in dull carmine with the lower-right corner 'waxed-off' on thin card, large even margins. Superb and rare this fine. Far superior to any of the 11 examples in the 'Alvarado' Collection or the 10 singles in Guy Hutson's Collection, virtually all of which had no margins or close margins in places only.
1860-72 Diadems Double-Lined Numeral Watermark Perf 13 1d dull red as SG 155 but a marginal example Imperforate at Right between stamp and margin, grossly misplaced perfs with a chunk of the adjoining unit above, tied to piece by very fine Sydney 'JA 6/1863' duplex cancel. Ex Gary Diffen. In the preceeding Perf 12 issue it was normal for the marginal stamps to remain unperforated on one side (or on two sides for corner units); our vendor states that the Perf 13 sheets were fully perforated and that this item represents the only known example of such an error for the 1d.
1861-88 Coin 5/- reddish purple with Irregular Compound Perfs 12x10x12x12 SG 180a var, well centred, large-part o.g., Cat £450+, for regular compound perf 12x10. [While this is clearly not a case of Mixed Perfs, we query if this is the stamp listed as such as SG 180b??]
