1850, "Mission"-entire letter written by Rev. Johannes Carl Riemenschneider, sent from "WELLINGTON AU 16 1849" with red crown-cds "PAID AT WELLINGTON NEW ZEALAND" sent via London adressed to Hamburg with arrival "St.P.A. 28 Feb.51", paid with 4 d for NZ inland-rate, 8 d. paid for private transport to London, there taxed with 6d. for seapost-rate to Hamburg, in Hamburg taxed with "9 Schilling-Curant" The letter is written by J.C. Riemenschneider, the first of only two early German missionars in New Zealand who lived and worked in Warea between 1844 and 1868 to evangelize the indigene Maori, later he moved to Otago and died 1866.
