1894 Opobo River Bisect Provisional '½' on QV 1d dull blue, horiz setenant pr of right & left halves. Fresh M, with original gum, 1 restored perf at base & top perfs sl gum soaking, F-VF appearance. SG 57(var) cat £4500+++ for singles, & should be at least double, £9000 for such pair. Only 120 issued with the vast majority used & only tiny number of genuine mint singles recorded. While of such setenant pair only 2 are recorded, with the other known example recently selling for equivalent of Aus$17,000 in a European auction despite being no gum & thinned. Ex Ferrary & Dale-Lichtenstein collections, with 1937 RPSL photo cert, while diff new certificate can be obtained on request. (P) (Image1)
