17th April 1931 (NZAMC.49) per Australia - England airmail, Kingsford Smith signed covers (5) all accepted at Christchurch with '16AP31' datestamps, forwarded on the overnight inter-island ferry steamer to Wellington to meet up with the SS Ulimaroa departing on the 17th for Sydney where special flight cachet applied, thence to Brisbane by ANA, thence to Darwin by QANTAS, Kingsford Smith then flying to Akyab per "Southern Cross" with onward mail travelling by Imperial Airways to England. Destinations comprise Burma (16 flown), India (41 flown, additionally signed by Stephen Smith), Straits Settlements (48 flown) & two to England (335 flown), four of the covers with 'USE NEW ZEALAND'S SUNNY SKIES' black/blue labels on reverse, frankings include 2/- Milford Sound & 2/- KGV Admiral.
