1890 (Sept 3-6): De La Rue Die Proofs (8), stamp size printed in black on white glazed card and affixed to brown card from the DLR day-book, with LEEWARD ISLANDS at top on each, top row with Duty Plates of ½ d., 1 d., 2½ d. and 4 d. with manuscript "Sep 3rd. 60 Leads each die", second row with Duty Plates of 6 d., 7 d., 1 s. and 5 s. with manuscript "Sep 6, 60 Lead each die" and further marked with invoice date in red "Oct 14 90" with the Proofs crossed in same ink. Duty Plate upwards and to the right, on cover front to Jolly Hill, tied by St. John's / Antigua cds. When one considers how many sheets of stamps that De La Rue printed, it is extraordinary how few major varieties such as this ever occurred.
