£2 grey-black & rose-carmine with Kangaroo's Foot Broken [R52], unmounted, Cat $15,000 (£4250 mounted) plus a premium for the variety. Superb! Ex Australia Post Archives: sold at auction in 2017 for $9241.
This variety is not listed in the ACSC. It should be #58(V)na. Originally, unit 52 also showed the Pointed Tail but that element was retouched during the Third Watermark printings. For the Small Multiple & CofA Watermark printings, the vignette plates were transposed so [L52] became [R52]
£2 grey-black & rose-carmine ACSC #57B (SG 138) horizontal pair, a couple of very minor blemishes, neat Sydney GPO cds, Cat $1700+ (£1200+). Scarce multiple.
£2 black & rose-carmine John Ash Imprint block of 4 with Open-Mouthed Roo ACSC #58za, well centred for an imprint block, one slightly nibbled perf on the first unit otherwise superb!, the upper units very lightly mounted, the lower units unmounted, Cat $75,000. As fresh as a daisy. Ex Stuart Hardy: sold for $31,455. [One of the pre-eminent items for any Kangaroos collection. The ACSC states "At least six blocks of 4 have survived; one is in the Australia Post Archives"]
