5d Yellow-Brown Single-line Perf imperforate plate proof lower-left corner block of 4 [L49-50/55-56] in the issued colour on ungummed watermarked paper BW #122PP(3)A, margins large to enormous, cancelled with two strikes of the 36mm 'COMMONWEALTH...AUSTRALIA/POSTMASTER/GENERAL'S/19JUN21 AM/DEPARTMENT' cachet, Cat $50,000: see Note 3 on page 4/349. One of the most visually arresting items in the entire Georgian Heads Series: illustrated at page 4/348. Ex Dr Leslie Abramovich, Charles Zuker and Arthur Gray. The ACSC states that these are the only examples in private hands, the adjoining 'CA' Monogram block of 4 being in the Australia Post Archives.

NB: the ACSC doesn't mention that this proof is on Single Watermark Paper. In fact,  it is on the distinctive Rough Paper used for the 1920 printing that was issued only punctured 'OS'! As a consequence of this previously unrecognised situation, the listing of this proof should be moved to before the Rough Paper printing, where it would be numbered BW #124PP(1). And, of course, this and the Australia Post block thus represent the only Rough Paper 5d stamps that are NOT punctured 'OS'. (Image)
