Major Commanding Cavalery Depot Kirkee, sent from Kirkee to Birmingham via Bombay. The first one (24th June 1857) with red oval d/s "KIRKEE/1857 /FREE" (Giles 4), the second one (24th Oct. 1857) bears trisected framed "KIRKEE/1857 /Paid." d/s in red (Giles 5), both with red "INDIA" in oval, and backstamped Bombay and London dater as well as Birmingham arrival cds. The shocking letters describing the Sepoy Mutiny in detail. Both letters and both covers well written up on pages with several shocking details described in the letters.
