EXCEPTIONALLY FINE EARLY "ISLE OF MAN" + 1818 LETTER REF. MAILS, & U.P.P. M/S "1/2/4" MARKS; Fine 15 Dec. 1808 EL (ref. parcel via Douglas that spent a night in an empty broken-down carriage) from "Castletown" to London with a lovely small "ISLE OF MAN" (IM4; early use). Exhibition Quality. [Ex Cavendish 'Tim Whitney' sale,; lot 1797, realised £372 inc. BP.], 1818 letter (no wrapper) written & signed by "Atholl" (4th Duke) to "Francis Freeling Esq." ref. "better conveyance of Letters Via Liverpool..."; plus scarce group of Feb. 1840 - Jan. 1850 covers (5) with Manuscript prepaid "P1" or unpaid "2" marks (1845/50 pair; latter with printed "NORTHERN LIGHT-HOUSE" content), rare black unpaid "4" (1852) or rare red "4" of which few are known from IOM (1848; contents mention 17 enclosures!).
