1866 6a purple, provisional on Foreign Bill optd type 15, fine unused with slight central horizontal bend, still a very collectable example without any of the surface tarnishing which is usually found on this delicate stamp. 1905 (21 July) artist's essay for the revised KEVII 1a 'POSTAGE & REVENUE' design (eventually issued on 7 Jan 1907), being a stamp-size die proof of the original 1902(-11) design (inscribed 'POSTAGE') in black on glazed card with the lower ('INDIA POSTAGE') tablet painted over in black and 'INDIA POSTAGE & REVENUE' hand-painted in Chinese white, sunk-mounted in card (81x88mm), with manuscript date and initials at upper right, and endorsed 'Approved/(initials)/15.3.06' at lower left.
