I.F.S. KISHANGARH: 1900 (FE 9) cover from Kishangarh to Arain, franked by 1899-1900 ½a imperf in a lovely pastel 'lavender' shade which is related to but different from the listed 'lilac' of the unused examples usually seen. Tied to very neat envelope by choice circular KISHENGARH/RAJ P.O. circular pmk with manuscript date FE 9 00 in RED, with equally fine ARAIN/RAJ P.O. delivery postmark at foot, showing date '9-2 1900' in black manuscript. Stamp with unobtrusive crease at top, and cover with trivial toned spots at foot, mentioned for accuracy, nevertheless a superb cover of great rarity. Clear ISES Certificate (2010) as SG 7 ('lilac'). Cat No:51

I.F.S. KISHANGARH: 1912 Composite artist's essay (66 x 84mm) for the original "TWO ANNA" value as Type 14 (no ornaments either side of English value, large ornaments either side of Hindi value, small stop after "STATE"), comprising original sepia portrait photo of the Maharaja, overlaid by printed typeset frame in black, with the Hindi value and accompanying ornaments printed on a separate small piece which has been tipped in (the accent over "DO" being added by hand). Insignificant blemishes, but a fascinating and probably unique essay, although study of the issued sheets of SG 51 indicates that ten separate mock-ups must originally have existed, to be photographed for production of the 5x2 half-tone block. A highly desirable centrepiece for any Kishangarh collection. For SG 51; Scott 37 (Image)
