"Knights of Columbus/War Services" envelope from Rifleman Percy Wilmot to St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, bearing K.G.VI 15c. and Centenary 5c. tied by "Victoria/Hong Kong" c.d.s., showing on reverse very fine "Detained in Hong Kong/by Japanese/from December 1941 to September 1945" framed h.s. in black, with "Passed/by/Censor/136" triangular military censor h.s. in black and manuscript censor endorsement adjacent, trivial opening tear on reverse just affects censor handstamp, fine usage.

Rifleman Percy Wilmot of the 1st Battalion of the Royal Rifles of Canada was captured in the battle of Hong Kong and was interned at a number of prison camps in Hong Kong. Surviving the War, he was repatriated, spending time on the way back to Canada in hospital in the Philippines. A number of covers from his correspondence to his family in Canada are included in various chapters of this section, with a final group included in a separate chapter towards the end of this section.

Japanese Occupation of Hong Kong, Service Suspended : 1941 (13 Oct./13 Dec.) envelopes (9) addressed to Hong Kong but returned because service was suspended with the outbreak of the Pacific War, from the U.K. (3, one franked with postage meter). U.S.A. (2), Australia (2), Canada and New Zealand, showing a variety of service suspended and return markings, the Australian, Canadian and one of the U.S. envelopes also censored, a fine and interesting assembly showing treatment from a range of countries. The Australian envelope illustrated in Tett, p. 11.
