Japanese Occupation of Hong Kong, 1941 (7 Dec.) "Salvation Army Canadian Forces" envelope from Marcus Tugby, Canadian Force C Headquarters unit to St. James, Manitoba, Canada, bearing Centenary 5c. and K.G.VI 15c. tied by "Victoria/Hong Kong" c.d.s., showing very fine "Detained in Hong Kong/by Japanese/from December 1941 to September 1945" framed h.s. in black, with part manuscript endorsement adjacent and "Passed/by/Censor/137" triangular military censor h.s. in black on reverse, envelope roughly opened at left and folded vertically at centre just barely touching the handstamp, an interesting Detained cover from a Canadian soldier, who was captured and tried after the war for collaborating with the Japanese during his imprisonment.

Marcus Tugby was tried at a 1946 court martial on 19 charges relating to his activities during his imprisonment at Oeyama Camp in Japan (where he was transferred in 1943 from Camp S) and found guilty on eight charges (relating to hitting or assaulting fellow prisoners) and sentenced to be "severely reprimanded".

Japanese Occupation of Hong Kong, 1945 1.50y. on 1s. to 5y. on 5s. set of three in blocks of four (the 3y. and 5y. marginal), fine to very fine unmounted mint, fresh appearance and well centred, some faint light age traces on reverse on the 1.50y. and 5y., with the latter (the 5y.) with fresh gum and only faintest traces just along some perfs. on reverse, a nice set of blocks. SG J1-J3 cat. £3800.

Japanese Occupation of Hong Kong, 1942-43 commemorative cards selection, comprising 1942 Japan 10s. Mount Fuji stationery card locally addressed, bearing Kirishima National Park set of four, all cancelled by "Hong Kong" c.d.s. (17.1.42, the first day of the Japanese Post office in Hong Kong), 1942 (Dec.) Great East Asia War 1st Anniv. card (Race Course) bearing 1s., 2s. and 3s. tied by purple commemorative cancellation with "da Luz" locally handstamped address, and 1943 Greater East Asia War 2nd Anniv. unused set of three cards (2 sets, plus an additional card) and folder and leaflet (one of each), generally fine to very fine.
