1840, 1d intense black, two examples (lettered M.K and N-E), each with margins all around, cancelled by black Maltese cross on 1841 double rated folded letter to Penobscot with dispatch of Ormskirk cds on back, unusual "Missent to Exeter" handstamp on front, fine letter with two Penny Blacks. 1850, 10 d brown, Die 2, cut to shape (repaired by framing), tied by numeral bar cancel "328", single franking on cover with blue cds HADLEIGH, NO 14 1851, along with red oval "PD", sent via transit London and french transit dater "ANGL./2/CALAIS, 16 NOV. 53, to Courseulles-sur-Mer in France. 1867, 9d brownish orange tied duplex "114 + DUNDEE JY 31 67" to entire folded letter to Pernau, Estonia/Russsia. Blue "Aus England / Aachen Franco 2/8", boxed "FRANCO" resp. oval framed "PD", on reverse transits London, Riga and arrival "PERNAU". Vertical file bend ironed out. (Image)

1875: outer of entire letter franked with strip for four 2 1/2 d plate 1 (JE - JH), tied by LONDON SP 11 /% duplexes to Marseilles. The postal rate is tripple per 1/2 oz (2 d x 3 = 9 d) plus 1 d late fee. A rare franking even more so to France at a time when the 2 1/2 d per 1/2 oz was not applicable to France - covers with 2 1/2 d to France are encountered after 1st January 1876 when France implemented GPU postal rates. 1900 Very large official registered envelope (cover faults) franked with pair of 1 Sh red/green, stamps canceld by FIELD POST OFFICE - BRITISH ARMY S. AFRICA SP 28 00, addressed to Wembly, Middx, with transit REGISTERED LONDON 28 00 OCT and arrival backstamp WEMBLEY OC 29 00. The 1 Sh red/green is scarce on cover, multiples are most elusive, and this is the only reported cover bearing a multiple of this stamp with no other stamp present. (Image)
