1840, "ONE PENNY" black and "TWO PENCE" blue, the first-ever definitives in very scarce mint hinged (No.1) and mint without gum (No.2) condition. No.1 stems from plate 4, nearly all margins are full except for a minimal touch at the bottom right. No.2 stems from plate 1, full margins on all four sides - gum not original. Both values show clear watermarks. A very fine ensemble of these rarities in extremely fresh appearance. Stanley Gibbons value: 31.500 GBP. Note: No. 2 has been calculated with half catalogue value only. ÷ 1840, "ONE PENNY" schwarz und "TWO PENCE" blau, die ersten Briefmarken der Philatelie in sehr seltener ungebrauchter (Mi.Nr.1) und ungebrauchter ohne Gummi (Mi.Nr.2) Erhaltung. Mi.Nr. 1 ist von Platte 4, ist fast vollrandig geschnitten (nur unten rechts minimal berührt) und hat vollständigen Originalgummi mit einem Falzrest . Mi.Nr.2 ist von Platte 1, vollrandig geschnitten mit allseits breiten Rändern und ist mit Neugummi. Beide Werte haben ein klar erkennbares Wasserzeichen. Ein sehr schönes Ensemble dieser Seltenheiten mit strahlend frischer Optik. Der Katalogwert bei Stanley Gibbons ist 31.500,- Pfund wobei die Mi.Nr. 2 nur mit halben Katalogwert berechnet worden ist.
