1840, "ONE PENNY" black and "TWO PENCE" blue, the first-ever definitives in very scarce mint hinged (No.1) and mint without gum (No.2) condition. No.1 stems from plate 4, nearly all margins are full except for a minimal touch at the bottom right. No.2 stems from plate 1, full margins on all four sides - gum not original. Both values show clear watermarks. A very fine ensemble of these rarities in extremely fresh appearance. Stanley Gibbons value: 31.500 GBP.
