1840 1d Blacks used, GH plate 1b with inverted watermark, three margins; and other four margined 1d blacks (8) all unfortunately creased or thinned, one repaired. Also Chalmers 2d essay facsimile, and oval Whiting embossed essay inscribed "PAID" cut from the 1848 Arts Journal reprint page. (11).

1840 (Sept 24) Entire letter written from Eton College to London, the upper part of the letter folded over the top of the address panel and a 1d black then applied over the join to seal the letter down, the 1d SJ plate 6 with four good margins, tied by a red Maltese Cross with Windsor datestamp alongside and a London backstamp. 1841 2d Blue, position 3 from the trial plate of twelve stamps without corner letters, postally used with a black Maltese Cross cancellation, cut into at right and touched at lower left side and right base but a very rare unauthorised postal use. 1848 (May 28) Piece bearing 1841 2d blue plate 3 FE tied by blue numeral "107" with matching Castlebar datestamp above, the stamp just cut into at upper right corner and right lower corner, an attractive Irish blue cancel. S.G. £875.
