1840-70 Line Engraved issues in four albums with 1d blacks (8, two fine, one of these on cover), 1840 2d blues (2), extensive plating studies of imperf and perforated 1d reds with a few black plates, various varieties and re-entries, numbers in Maltese Crosses, some covers and a few mint stamps. Very mixed quality but many fine. (1,000s).

1865 Entire letter from Newcastle on Tyne to Sweden bearing 1858 2d blue plate 9 (5, two pairs + single) and a 1d red, blue Aachen transit c.d.s and "FRANCO" with "SODRA ST. BANEN" backstamp and blue "Wfr. 33/4". Horizontal fold through the 1d red and one 2d blue otherwise fine and an attractive franking, this 11d rate via Belgium and Stralsund only applicable from June until October 1865.

1847-54 Embossed issues, cut square, comprising 6d (three margins, touched at top), 10d on piece (four margins, close at base) used with 2d blue, 1/- (touched two sides, creased) and 1/- pair (faults, cut into), a useful group, the 10d finer than usual. (5).

1854-1913 QV and KEVII Embossed and surface printed issues in two volumes with QV embossed (9, faults), surface printed with some fine C.T.O cancels and used abroad, overseas overprint issues with Cyprus 4d overprint mint and used, mint QV controls with 1d lilac inverted "X", 1/2d orange "C" for "O", etc., official overprints, a few covers including QV 1/2d orange + 1/2d green used together and cancelled London MB datestamps, a useful range of KEVII controls, high values with 1883-84 blued paper 5/- (creased), white paper 5/- (2), 10/-, Imperial Crowns £1 brown and 1891 £1 green (both with faults), KEVII 5/- (2), 10/-, £1 (creased), etc. (1,000s). Postal Fiscals. 1889 Cover to Kokstad, East Griqualand, Cape Colony, bearing 1d purple postal fiscal (die 4, Small Anchor watermark) block of four each tied by Bury St. Edmunds squared circle, arrival backstamps, minor faults with a few light manuscript lines across the lower pair, an unusual and attractive franking paying the correct 4d rate.
