Assigned rarity factor 475 in the Handbook, there was a new date reported in the 1st Supplement, and the 2nd Supplement deleted the II CT hammer completely. Advanced Collection of BRADFORD Squared Circle Postmarks, 1887 to 1905, with some written up on pages and others loose, we counted a total of 523 covers or cards, with a wide variety of time marks, hammer types, usages (including to, through and from), frankings as well as destinations such as Canada, Austria, Holland, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Belgium, etc. Many items have pencil notations as per the time marks, some ERD or LRD, etc. A nice lot, with better than average quality of the postmarks, overall fine or better with a few faults and some stamps or pieces not counted. We note a lovely 1900 strike on an uprated UPU postcard from Haiti. Also includes a number of articles on this town's squared circle postmarks as well as photocopies of the proof impressions, etc. (Image)

Advanced Collection of BRISTOL Squared Circle Postmarks, 1880 to 1907, very well written-up on about 65 pages, each showing the proof impression, ERD, LRD for each hammer, information on recuts, known codes and times and more. We counted a total of 172 covers or cards (many are not on pages), plus hundreds of stamps or pieces. Note many different time marks, frankings, usages (to, from or through Bristol), destinations such as Germany, Australia, Bermuda, Austria, India, Sweden, USA, Canada, Switzerland, Holland and more. Also includes some extra cut squares in stock pages and some literature on this town's squared circles, as well as 10 covers or cards with Clifton / Bristol postmarks, including one is red. Better than average quality of postmarks, and overall fine or better items, with a few faults noted. A nice collection. (Image)

CALL LANE B.O. / LEEDS a very fine despatch strike H / MY 5 / 92 on a registered cover to Halifax, with oval Leeds datestamp on front and MY 6 oval Halifax receiver on back. One of the "lonely greats", this hammer was attributed a rarity factor of 500 in the Handbook, with only one reported strike. This is thus the only second known example (and a great one at that), and no reports have been made in either of the four Supplements. A very fine and desirable cover. (Image)
