Great Britain Mulready and Caricature, 1840, 1 d., Mulready black, sent from BIRMINGHAM/MY 27/1840 (reverse) to Paris, the letter was charged with 10 d. which was paid by the sender (m/s 10 at upper left) and in France taxed m/s in black ink with 15 Centimes for the domestic mail, struck with red Maltese Cross, PAID/LONDON/ MAY 28 transit and oval P.-P., late Ma-date from the first month, one of two black Mulready's to France, a brilliant copy with desirable clear notes and cancellations for the connoisseur, XF!
