1653 SCOTLAND: An entire addressed to'His Dear Friend/Charles Lander' no postal markings but carried by 'Lundy' carrier (see PJGB Vol 86 p59). Vinegar (disinfection) stains & a piece missing where the seal was torn open. A note(in the form of a P.S. at the bottom) reads 'Seal yr better for yt which I received from you was almost broke open' [US1] (Start Price = £36.80)

1760-1809 A group of 5 covers from the period. 1805 E London to Ipswich with Inspectors single lined star in red, rated 6 in m/s; Edinburgh Penny Post entire with mss '1' charge mark in black; 1760 Inverary to Barcaldine no postal markings; 1808 E from Sweden (Gothenburg) to London with 'Foreign cds' in black, no Swedish marks, '1/6' mss unpaid mark in black; and 1809 E from Faversham with mileage mark 'Feversham/47', signed at bottom 'Free/ W.Reastick'. 1817 Entire from Russia with straight line 'Sanct Petersbourg' at top in black, 'P.P.' also in black plus the scarce 'Oz at 6s8d per Oz' preceded by manuscript '1' . This being the charge for letters from Russia via Amsterdam. A small framed figure 5 is struck over the Russian mark.
