1972 Royal Silver Wedding 3p with Silver Printing (Inscription & '3p') Completely Omitted SG 916a tied to a commercial cover by 'LONDON W1/23JAN/1974' machine cancel, underpaid for airmail to South Africa but detected & sent by sea, 'UNIFIED/1.IV.74' b/s & readdressed internally, Cat £700 mint; unpriced used. Another outstanding 'Missing Colour' usage. [Tom Pierron records '36 mint, some used' & states "A used copy is known on piece with a 23 Jan 1974 date & London W1 postmark". That is almost certainly a reference to this cover]
BOOKLETS: 1904 KEVII 2/0½d (1d x24) SG Spec #BA1, ridiculously undercatalogued at £500. Pristine! [We say "ridiculously undercatalogued" because the 'Concise Catalogue' prices the panes at £300 x4 = £1200!]
POSTAGE DUES - SPECIMEN OVERPRINTS: 1914-23 Simple Cypher Wmk 2d perforated colour trials on gummed watermarked paper in emerald, carmine & chestnut - the colours chosen for the ½d 1d & 1½d - each with Type 23, the last with Double Overprint, plus 2d agate & 5d cinnamon (one very lightly mounted) with Type 26 or 23 Spec #R4t & #R7s blocks of 4; and 1924-31 Block Cypher Wmk 2/6d purple/yellow with Type 23 as Spec #R18s with the Overprint Double, Cat £800+ plus the Double Overprints that are not listed by Gibbons Specialised.
