Large accumulation especially strong in military mail from WWI, WWII and a few later with a wide variety of Military PO & censor markings on covers and stationery plus PPCs including some with military views noted real photo cards for 'HM Transport City of Exeter', 'The Sapper At Work', 'Arrival of the Essex 1909', etc, naval & ship markings including 'PASSED BY CENSOR/H.M.S. KING EDWARD VII', lots of registered mail, some civil censorship & instructional markings, frankings include KGVI 5/- solo on two-ocean airmail cover to Ceylon, 1941 cover endorsed "Channel Island Message Scheme", also a few earlier items such as 1862 entire with 2d blue tied 'A26' and 'GIBRALTAR' cds alongside, 1896 1d postal card to Burma via Indian 'SEA POST OFFICE', etc, condition variable. 1900 (Apr & July) covers to "Captain Hodgins/Royal Artillery/Sierra Leone/West Africa" both with 1d lilac tied by very fine 'LOWER-WALMER/DEAL' squared-circle & segmented b/s in red, the first endorsed "Frontier Police Mess" with 'FREETOWN' arrival b/s, the other a mourning cover, minor blemishes. Scarce destination: because of the humid climate & attendant disease, Sierra Leone was one of the least popular colonial postings. (Qty 2)
