SYRIAN ARAB GOVERNMENT - BRITISH OFFICES COVER COLLECTION, 1918/19. five items on annotated quadrille pages: 1918 (Oct 25) stampless cover to Scotland with FIELD POST OFFICE C.11 A cds (in Damascus, the only recorded date of usage in Syria and possibly the only extant example, in Sep 1918 the unit was in Transjordan, and by Nov 1918 was in Lebanon), red censor handstamp, numerous edge tears, 1919 (Feb) stampless Active Service green printed cover to England with FIELD POST OFFICE D.C.5 cds (at Aleppo), 1919 (Feb) stampless cover to England with same FIELD POST OFFICE D.C.5 cds in a different shade (blue black), ms. "On Active Service," 1918 (Nov 23) Great Britain 2p registered envelope to Egypt cancelled by FIELD POST OFFICE H.M A Nov 23 cds (at Homs, early usage, unit reached Homs Nov 1) with additional strike on registered label, alongside ARMY POST OFFICE S.Z.10 cds (at Cairo) and censor handstamp, and 1919 2p registered envelope to Egypt cancelled by FIELD POST OFFICE H.M B Jun 10 cds (late usage, latest recorded Jun 16), generally F-VF, an excellent assemblage (see online scans)

(British Egyptian Expeditionary Force) used in Syria, incl. 1918 (Nov) cover to Egypt franked with 1pi tied by BASE ARMY POST OFFICE B cds (at Aleppo), 1919 and 1920 fronts to England, one franked with 1m, 2m (3) & 3m (3), other registered franked with 2pi, and 1919 cover to Egypt franked with 1pi, these last three all with HALEP cds''s, and two 1919 covers to Egypt, one registered franked with 1pi pair, other franked with 2m and 3m pairs, these two with DAMAS cds''s, the registered cover with return of Spanish Consulate and ""Dept. of Publications Arab Government"" negative seal (this Dept. believed to have produced the 1920 Overprinted issues), loose stamps including cancels of HAMA (2) and HOMS (2), these stamps used during British/Arab Occupation prior to Nov 1919, and remained valid under Arab Govt. until Jul 1920, F-VF;scarce assemblage (see online scans)"'
