Falkland Islands: 1893-1902 1d. postal stationery postcard, two examples of commercial use cancelled by the “F.I.” steel obliterator, the first to London dated “17.5.95” and with ms. “21/6/5” arrival, written and signed by F.C. Halkett (who at that time held the posts of Colonial Secretary and Treasurer as well as Postmaster), carried by the “Tanis”, the second (Sept. 11) to Germany with F.2. despatch c.d.s. and carried on the “Neko” with Oct. 14 arrival. Ex Cottis. No further printing of the 11/2d. stationery card was carried out after the Empire rate was reduced to 1d. in Jan. 1892. Nevertheless the 1d. card passed untaxed when used to foreign destinations despite the Foreign postcard rate not being reduced from 11/2d. until Dec. 25 1898.
