1853 ANCHOR WMK. 1d deep brick red on deep blued and blued paper. 4d deep blue and blue (2). Fair used examples. Also 1855-63 Perkins Bacon 1d brick red (m/s cancellation), 4d pale rose lilac, 6d slate purple and 1/- deep dark green. 1863-64 De La Rue 4d deep blue, 4d blue, 6d bright mauve and 1/- bright emerald green. TRANSVAAL/C.G.H. COMBINATION 6d+6d FRANKING COVER TO G.B. VIA CAPE TOWN; 12 May 1879 env. to London ex "LYDENBURG/Z.A.R./ZUID AFRIKA" (cds on front) franked with both CGH 6d Lilac (fault at top - cancelled by same 27 May Cape Town transit cds as is struck alongside so clearly belongs) and Transvaal 6d Black tied by an unclear 3-ring Numeral, also having a very fine red London "PAID" cds (19 June) on the front. Good example of the obligatory Combination franking needed for overseas mail during the British Occupation of O.V.S. from 1877 to 1881.Cross Reference: TRANSVAAL (Image)

1884-93 SURCHARGES ON THE SEATED HOPE ISSUES: The mostly used accumulation with 1868 4d on 6d (20), 1874-76 1d on 6d (4 - 3 with faults) & 1d on 1/- (4, plus two mint), 1879 3d on 4d (50 plus one mint), 1880 3d on 4d (46), 1880 type 10 "3" on 3d (84, inc. two inverted), type 11 "3" on 3d (24), 1882 CA wmk. (48), 1891 21/2d on 3d (78) and 1893 1d on 2d (69, inc. a mint block of four with no stop variety on one). Very mixed condition, but a fair number of fine examples are included. (Image)
