Cat No:1-16 complete

ANGUILLA: 1967 'Independent/Anguilla' Overprints on St Kitts-Nevis ½c to $5 SG 1-16 complete, unmounted, Cat £25,000. The key QEII set of the entire British Commonwealth & the first mint set to be offered in Australia for many years. Separate BPA Certificates for the 60c to $5.

This was a very limited provisional issue. Of the denominations between ½c & 25c, no more than 4250 (the 2c) were produced. Of the higher values the numbers were 50c x175, 60c x100, $1 x175, $2.50 x225 & $5 x225. It is not known how many used or CTO sets exist but they are catalogue at £4250 (about one-sixth of the mint price).

At the time of issue, and for some years thereafter, many collectors still hinged their stamps into albums. Consequently, very fine unmounted sets are in extremely short supply. A similar set to this was sold at a London auction in 2017 for £24,000 indicating that the catalogue value is actually conservative or, if you prefer, one of very few in the book that is accurate!
