(4) with 11/2pi. on 1d., another underpaid to Paris with “T” mark but uncharged, and 41/2pi. on 11/2d. stationery card (CP77) addressed to Egypt, 41/2pi. local rates (2), 71/2pi. letter rate (4, one to U.S.A. with G.P.O. British Levant: Post Offices in Constantinople and Smyrna 1919-23: British Post Office in Smyrna: 1919 Reopening of British Post Office, a group of covers, incl. (May 8) cover to the French Chamber of Commerce in Sydney franked 21/2d. cancelled pre-War B.P.O. Smyrna c.d.s., Port Said transit on reverse, stained but a rare item from the period before the commencement of Greek Occupation on May 15 (also two 21/2d. adhesives on pieces cancelled “3 MY/19” or “9 MY/19”), 1912 “LEVANT” 1/2d. postal stationery wrapper (WP25) used 1919 (Nov. 10) to Calcutta and (Dec. 5) to Essex cancelled fair strikes of first type (24mm, latest known date) and second type (25mm) B.P.O. Smyrna c.d.s. respectively, official mail with 1d. postcard rate four examples comprising 1919 (Dec. 2) “LEVANT” 1912 1d. scarlet stationery card (CP62) unusually to Sweden, (Dec. 24) humorous p.p.c. to Lancashire franked unoverprinted 1/2d. pair, 1920 (Mar. 8) unoverprinted 1912 1d. card to London (address partially erased), and 1921 (Aug. 22) private card to Stamboul with unoverprinted 1d., 3d. letter rate with 1921 (June 21) and 1922 (Sept. 5) envelopes to Leeds franked unoverprinted 3d. and 1/2d. with 21/2d. respectively, cancelled by B.P.O. Smyrna c.d.s’s with additional strikes alongside, the latter being the latest known date of use, also 1921 (July 23) envelope to Paris bearing 21/2d., charged on arrival with French 30c. postage due affixed alongside.
