1946 airmail cover with "W Brajtbort, POB 644, Shanghai, China" on the flap to New Zealand Air Force serviceman at "NZAPO 333/Br. Com. Occup. Force/Japan" with Great Britain KGVI 3d tied 'AUST ARMY P.O./-8SE46/215' cds used at Kure (Japan) with violet boxed 'AUST. ARMY POSTAL SERVICE/APO/215' registration cachet alongside, 'No.8 AUST BASE P.O./A' b/s applied at Registration Section Kure, couple of very minor blemishes. Inwards BCOF mail is very scarce. [The use of a Chinese airmail label suggests carriage from China, but it is unclear how the cover was transported to Japan. The GB stamp was certainly not affixed in China &, in any event, paid only the postage & not the registration fee. This suggests the item was officially registered at Kure. More investigation required]
